Bengaluru Ayurveda Research Institute Achieves International ISO Accreditation for Advanced Lab Services


The Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Bengaluru has achieved a major milestone by receiving ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for its clinical laboratory in biochemistry and haematology

🔬 What the Accreditation Means

  • ISO 15189:2022 is an international standard for medical laboratories, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and safety in diagnostic testing. 

  • This certification guarantees that patients receive precise and trustworthy test results, which are essential for correct diagnosis and treatment.

🏆 Key Achievement

  • CARI has become the first institute under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) to receive this accreditation. 

  • The recognition marks its transition from a basic NABL-certified lab to a fully accredited centre of excellence

🧪 Laboratory Capabilities

  • The lab currently offers 50 NABL-accredited test parameters

  • Services include:

    • Blood glucose and HbA1c

    • Liver and kidney function tests

    • Lipid and thyroid profiles

    • Complete blood counts and electrolyte analysis 

📊 Scale of Operations

  • In 2025–26, the lab conducted over 1.52 lakh diagnostic tests

  • It served more than 9,300 patients, with digital reporting systems improving accessibility and efficiency.

  • Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav said the accreditation ensures high-quality diagnostics and better health outcomes

  • Ayush Secretary Rajesh Kotecha called it a landmark step in integrating modern diagnostics with traditional Ayurveda.

  • CCRAS Director General Rabinarayan Acharya noted that it strengthens research quality and scientific rigor in Ayurveda
